How To Choose The Right Stroller For Your Lifestyle

Choosing the right stroller to fit your lifestyle can make all the difference in how much you will enjoy taking your child on outings in their stroller. Whether you are just running out to the store, taking your baby on a stroll through the zoo or finally going on a much needed vacation, you want a stroller that fits your family and lifestyle.

A few things to consider:

Your budget
When looking for a new stroller, first keep budget in mind. Strollers come in a huge range of prices and there are many affordable, yes excellent options on the market.

Our picks
The Baby Jogger City Mini gives you quality, functionality and convenience while still going easy on the pocketbook. With features like a fully reclining seat, a large canopy  and a super easy, one handed fold, the City Mini offers durable style. Another great value is the UPPAbaby G-Luxe Stroller, one of the lightest reclining umbrella strollers on the market. With great features like SPF 50+ canopy and stain resistant fabric, the G-Luxe makes an excellent and affordable companion for long or short trips.

Single or Double stroller
When multi-tasking two children, there are many different double strollers to choose from with different styles and features.

Our picks
For a double stroller that takes versatility to the next level, the Baby Jogger City Select can be arranged in over 16 unique configurations and allows the use of car seat adapters as well as a bassinet or stroller seats. Another great option would be the Mountain Buggy Duet which is the narrowest side by side full featured double stroller currently on the market. It is just over 25” wide which is the width of some single strollers.

Age range
To make sure you get the most out of your stroller, find one that will have options to make accompanying your kiddo from birth to big kid easy.

Our picks
The UPPAbaby Cruz is a great choice as it allows for a bassinet option for a newborn (must be purchased separately).  If you prefer not to use the bassinet, an infant insert cushion can be purchased. It also has a very large and roomy seat for children up to 50 lb and will accommodate a tall child with the height adjustable canopy. Another choice, the Mamas and Papas Urbo Stroller, not only comes in tons of funky colors, but allows you to position your baby at an almost flat recline (no bassinet required, however that option is available) to seated almost straight up. It is rear facing as well.

Weight, Portability and Storage.
If you plan on traveling or making a lot of short trips, find a lightweight stroller to make life easier.  If you live in a small apartment or an apartment with a lot of stairs, keep that in mind as well because you need something that is lightweight and easy to carry and store.

Our picks
The Maclaren Quest is a lightweight stroller that is perfect for an everyday stroller.  It features a full recline, easy fold and a 5 point safety harness.

Lifestyle
If you take your child for long strolls around the neighborhood or for leisurely outings, there are many strollers that are very easy to maneuver and are built to make a long ride comfortable.

Our picks
The Stokke Xplory features an adjustable seat to bring your baby closer to you as you explore. It also has large wheels for easy steering, even on rough and uneven surfaces.  The height makes it perfect for pulling up right to the table in a restaurant so baby can enjoy the meal too. The UPPAbaby Vista is also a great choice for long strolls.  It features shock absorbing front and rear suspension to ensure a smooth ride for your child, a very roomy seat and an extra large sun canopy.

Essentially, all strollers do the same thing, however the path they take to get the job done  may differ completely from one another. Take time before you purchase your stroller to determine which features fit your lifestyle. What works for one family, may not work for you because of differing needs. Finding a good fit can make your trips smoother so that you can keep your mind on something that really matters, like the little one inside the stroller.

Dainty Baby carries a huge selection of strollers from top brands.  Browse single strollers, double strollers, travel strollers and more.

How to Select a Diaper Bag

If you have a baby, a baby diaper bag is one of the most important baby accessories you will purchase. Choosing a great diaper bag makes a world of a difference when you go out with your baby. A proper diaper bag keeps you very organized and ensures that you always have everything that your baby might need. Many parents enjoy having a trendy diaper bag that matches their style and fashion, and with diaper bags, it is possible to get everything you want out of your diaper bag.

Size
It is crucial that you will be able to fit what you need in a diaper bag in an organized way.  Make sure there are plenty of pockets inside to make it easy to find what you are looking for when you need it. Take into consideration the size you need to accommodate all the baby’s needs. For short outings, you may want a smaller diaper bag that looks more like a purse.  For day outings or if you have more than one child, a larger tote diaper bag may be appropriate.  Everything that you will need for the baby should fit comfortably inside the bag with enough space that you can get things out without having to unload the entire bag.

Material
Diaper bags are often made of a sturdy material that is water resistant or machine washable and will save you when you have to deal with a spilt baby bottle or other accidents. The material also contributes to the weight of the bag.  Try to find a lighter bag that will not add much weight.

Features
Each diaper bag has different features, so choose one that has the features that are important to you. Some have hidden bottle pockets to make it look more like a purse, some have insulated bottle pockets to keep the bottles fresher, some have changing pads that pull directly out of the diaper bag and some have straps that attach directly onto your stroller without the use of clips.

There are countless brands of diaper bags, colors and styles to choose from. Some of the more popular kind of bags used are the backpack style diaper bags, messenger bags and the tote bags. The style that is right for you is the one that you prefer most and the way you plan to carry it.

Every mother’s needs are different.  When looking for a diaper bag, think about what your needs are before you start looking.  With the vast variety of diaper bags available, you should be able to find a bag that matches your needs. Dainty Baby carries a variety of fashionable and super functional baby diaper bags.  Feel free to browse our selection of top brands like Skip Hop, Babymel, Petunia Pickle bottom, Storksak, Ju Ju Be and more.

The Many Benefits of Using Cloth Diapers

Not too long ago, cloth diapers were the norm. Until the invention of disposables, they were the only option. As disposable diapers came on the scene, most parents came to view cloth diapers as more trouble than they were worth. In fact when people think about cloth diapers, many people still imagine the old flat diapers that had to be fastened with pins. However, cloth diapers have come a long way! Cloth diapers these days are elasticized, fitted, snug, breathable, waterproof, and also come with practical velcro-like closures and snaps. Nowadays, their ease and convenience matches that of disposables. As you'll read below, cloth diapers are also cheaper, healthier, and better for the environment.

Economical

As with most anything in life, reusing is cheaper than buying new, and diapers are no exception. On average, a baby uses 6,000-8,000 disposable diapers before he or she is finally potty trained. That equates to $3,000-$4,000 per child. Once the disposable diaper is soiled once, it must be thrown away. In comparison, a parent can purchase a three year supply of cloth diapers for about $300-$800 that can be used on successive children. Even with electricity, water usage, and detergent costs factored in, cloth diapers will save a parent an average of at least $2,200 per child.

Beneficial to the Baby’s Health

If the savings are not enough to sway a parent, they should also consider the health effects. Dioxin, a chemical linked to cancer, birth defects, liver damage, and skin diseases is a by-product of the paper-bleaching process used in disposable diaper manufacturing. Disposable diapers also contain Tributyl-tin, a pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals, and polyacrylate, the same product removed from tampons because of their link to toxic shock syndrome. Cloth diapers are free of many of these chemicals found in disposable diapers.

Environmentally Friendly

Additionally, there is the environmental factor to consider- roughly 18 billion disposable diapers go into America's landfills every year. Once there, it takes hundreds of years for each one to degrade. In fact, disposable diapers are the third largest waste product, trailing only newspapers and beverage containers.

The cloth diaper options available today are every bit as convenient as disposables, and they are an investment in the health of our children and the health of our planet. There is no time like the present to make the cloth diaper leap.

At Dainty Baby, we carry a selection of baby cloth diapersfrom top brands like FuzziBunz BumGenius, Bummis Tots Bots and Thirsties, as well as wet bags, cloth wipes and anything else you need to start using cloth diapers. One excellent cloth diaper option is the brand new Fuzzibunz Elite One Size 2013 These cloth diapers feature quick dry fleece that keeps baby feeling dryer for a longer period of time. They also feature two absorbent microfiber inserts, a longer rise for better fit and a wider crotch so you can double stuff the diapers.  Additional snaps have been added to the waist, creating a design that has a better fit and fewer leaks. The diapers adjust to fit babies from 7 to 35 pounds. Best of all, this new design comes at the very same low price as their original One Size Fuzzibunz diapers. They are also adorable!

iiamo Go Self Warming Bottle

Ever wished there was a way to heat your bottles on the go without taking along an electronic bottle warmer or locating a hot water source? Well now there is! The iiamo Go is now available in the United States!!
What is the iiamo Go
The Go is the first feeding bottle in the world that warms 6 oz of milk up to the recommended 98.6F (body temperature) in about 4 minutes. No electricity, no cord, no limitations. iiamo go is dedicated to parents with a spontaneous twist to life. Go visit your friends, go shopping with no stress, go to a cafĂ©, go for a run, or go traveling. Avoid that long trip to the kitchen and back in the middle of the night. Once it's ready simply give the bottle a little shake to distribute heat evenly as you would normally. Always fill the bottle completely to ensure the milk heats up to 98.6F. Milk will remain warm for up to 30 minutes.
How does iiamo work?
Iiamo Warm disposable 'heating' cartridges are inserted into the base of the feeding bottle. These cartridges contain water and salt that mix together when it's activated and provide energy to heat the milk or formula in the bottle. Iiamo Go is made from 100% BPA Free material and also has a built-in anti-colic airing system. The bottle comes apart making it easy to clean so you can be completely certain that there will be no old leftovers and bacteria from the previous feed. Iiamo Go is dishwasher safe and also withstands boiling, however, because of the stainless steel in the base, it is NOT microwave safe.
A variety of nipple sizes are available on for the go and cartridges come in packs of 5. This is a revolutionary product which will make night feedings and traveling so much more convenient.
iiamo is made in Denmark and designed by Karim Rashid.
